For all "moms"

I came across this story today and thought of many that would appreciate it, so I decided to post it. I first have to say that I love staying at home, and am so glad I can do it. It is hard but I wouldn't want it any other way. Ryan is so great to take care of everything else so I can stay at home and focus on being "mom".

A man came home from work and found his three children outside, still in their pajamas, playing in the mud, with empty food boxes and wrappers strewn all around the front yard. The door of his wife's car was open, as was the front door to the house and there was no sign of the dog.

Proceeding into the entry, he found an even bigger mess. A lamp had been knocked over, and the throw rug was wadded against one wall.In the front room the TV was loudly blaring a cartoon channel, and the family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing. In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food was spilled on the counter, the fridge door was open wide, dog food was spilled on the floor, a broken glass lay under the table, and a small pile of sand was spread by the back door.

He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys and more piles of clothes, looking for his wife. He was worried she might be ill, or that something serious had happened. He was met with a small trickle of water as it made its way out the bathroom door. As he peered inside he found wet towels, scummy soap and more toys strewn over the floor. Miles of toilet paper lay in a heap and toothpaste had been smeared over the mirror and walls.

As he rushed to the bedroom, he found his wife still curled up in the bed in her pajamas, reading a novel. She looked up at him, smiled, and asked how his day went.

He looked at her bewildered and asked, "What happened here today?"

She again smiled and answered, "You know every day when you come home from work and you ask me what in the world I do all day?"

"Yes," was his incredulous reply.

She answered, "Well, today I didn't do it."

Hats off to all the"moms" out there. Thanks mom for all the many messes and headaches I gave you.

Not Ready for Winter

Today officially ended Chandler and Carson's football season, and it was quite a way to go out; wind, snow, rain and not a degree over 34. Both boys had a fun time this season, Chandler led his team as quarter back, while Carson played both as receiver and center for his older brother. It was a new experience for Chandler, who is very shy, to be in a position where he would tell the other players how to run the next play. So with 1 season under their belts, Chandler is ready for grid kid next year and for Carson, he is thinking that he wants to stick with motorbiking.

Last weekend was our annual cattle drive where we move cattle, for my grandpa, from Kilgore back to the desert. Once again the weather left us outside in the cold and rain. However, all wasn't lost and we were able to get in a motorbike ride and a trip to big springs before the weather settled in.

I can't wrap up this session without a few pictures of the boys actually doing work around the house (I know, it probably will cost me but I'm good with it), and a hard rockin night of guitar hereo. So take care all, and hopefully we'll get to chat with you later.

Summers End

The gang gearin up for a big ride

Benjamin Entoxicated with Root Beer
The Cuzins

Well, summer has all to quickly come to an end and we wrapped it up with a fun labor day weekend camping trip to Moody Meadows. We left on Friday, a cool 90 degrees and came home on Monday to 40 degree weather, a good excuse to not go to the fair. Any how, we spent 3 days motorbiking, eating some great dutch oven food, and alot of sitting around the camp fire. With the close of summer brings a wave of things to do, mainly school and football. This year Chandler is in the 4th grade and Carson has moved on to the 1st grade. Carson was very excited to get to ride the bus with Chandler both to and from school, Chandler however, not quite as excited. The boys have also started fall flag football, they both play for the Denver (Rigby) Broncos, both were extremely excited to see that they got real jerseys to play in. They're first game was great, both Carson and Chandler had some smash grabbing flag pulls and Chandler ran the ball the length of the field on a reverse hand off, it was all worth it for the twinky and cool aid punch treat at the end of the game.

Summer FlyBy '08

Just a quick note to say I really do not know where the h*** summer went. One weekend seems to blend with the next between camping trips, reunions, swimming lessons and the occasional dirt bike trip with the boys. We've made a ton of memories this summer and look for to many more. These are just a few pictures of our summer thus far. I'll try and post a little more often. Take care all.

Boys and Trucks

Boys and trucks.... Do I need to say more. It's their love and addiction. Here are some pictures of the truck and boys together. Benjamin is always asking his dad for a ride in his dump truck. Only we can understand his request. It is so fun to listen to Benj put his words together. What a fun, loving, and demanding little boy he is. Ryan thinks he is a little angel. I think that is funny.

School is over and it started off with a fun long weekend with Dad home. Benjamin loves his daddy and is always asking for him and running around in search of him. Poor Ryan he doesn't get any alone time. I sure enjoy it, and can get alot done with him around. We are loving Dad home every Friday and are going to soak that up for as long as it lasts.

Where are you summer?

I thought I would brighten things up a bit and make this page a little more girly... for you Ryan, and bring some summer into our lives. The winter is officially unwelcome, and I am ready to see some color. Our garden was plowed today, in hopes we could start planting soon, but it has been snowing on and off all day and has been blowing on and on all day...not a good sign for the veggies. On a good note we have recieved a few bids on our sprinkler system installation and we are ready to put out some green so we can grow some green. I can almost see the color now. One day I am going to be running on some green grass through the sprinklers and be warm at the same time. We are waiting summer! Please come.

The Snow is Finally Gone

Here we go, are first blog here in the north country. The snow has finally gone revealing the unfinished yard that has been so very well hidden over the last 6 months. I finished hauling top soil last fall at a final count of 32 loads, and big loads at that. Koreen and the boys went to New Mexico last week to visit her sister and her family. Earlier in the year Koreen and I went to Akumal Mexico, which is about 60 miles south of Cancun on the Yucatan Penisula. It was a blast, we went with my parents, Darold and Sheryl and the Richesons. We did a little site seeing, but most of all just did a whole lot of laying out on the beach. We couldn't have picked a better week to go, while we where gone the INL Site shut down three times and my drive way blew in about every day.

The boys, Chandler (8), Carson (6), and Benjamin (2) have been anxiously waiting for spring for a long time, now all they want to do is play baseball and ride their dirt bikes, and the occasional dog poop scooping on the side (which comes after many hours of persuasion and the oppurtunity to make a buck or two).

We'll, thats all for now. Take care friends and family.
